Child Dental Benefits Schedule Continues!

After persistent lobbying from the Australian Dental Association, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule will continue into 2017! This is great news for eligible children and their parents/guardians. The schedule provides basic dental services to eligible children aged between 2 and 17 years. The benefit cap has been restored to $1000. We strongly encourage all our eligible families to take advantage of the benefits available while the schedule is still operational.  ...

Listerine Foot Scrub

Listerine is great for killing germs and freshening breath. Little did we know it has more than one use! While we were searching Pinterest for 'cute tooth fairy ideas' and 'tooth related decor', we came across this gem from Brandy J at www.prettyplainjanes.com. This could be for many reasons; a bad previous experience, a needle phobia, or maybe you just don’t like having your teeth cleaned! Dental treatment can be intimidating. It can feel like an invasion of your personal space, and you can end up feeling quite vulnerable if your specific needs as a dental phobic patient are not met. One of the most important aspects ...

Women and Oral Health

Every year, the Australian Dental Association runs a major oral health promotion event. Dental Health Week took place during 1st-7th of August. This year the event focussed on the role of hormones in women’s oral health, and how the various stages of a woman’s life can dramatically affect the health of their teeth and gums. Topics include: Can pregnancy increase your risk of tooth decay? Menopause - suffering from dry or burning mouth? The oral health effects of  ...

Toothbrushes - Hard, Soft or Electric?

The answer to this question is simple. NEVER use a Hard OR Medium brush. It’s a common misconception that hard-bristled brushes give a more thorough, efficient clean. It’s not the case, and they can do irreversible damage to your teeth and gums. Protect your enamel! Enamel is the white, hard outer layer of the tooth that protects the soft, inner layers.
